You can spend almost as much money on giving your dog a nice hairdo as you do on yourself - and there are almost as many salons for man's best friend as there are for their owners. Here, we have featured the 10 best-rated dog (and cat, and small animal, and horse) salons in Stoke-on-Trent, according to Google Reviews.

Dog-lovers have praised these salons for the care they have taken with their pets, to ensure the grooming is as stress-free an experience as possible. We have also featured photos of some of the adorable pups that have had a fresh trim and bath.

1. Griff's Professional Dog Groomers, Orchid Grove, Basford.

Rated five out of five stars.

This groomers offers everything from mud baths for an extra £5, hand stripping, a puppy package, and a full groom - including a pre- groom, bath, brush, full body style, eyes, ears and nail clip for £30. What customers say: "Booked my Westie Charlie into Griff's today.

"Terrific layout and surroundings - such a professional, friendly, laidback atmosphere. Kev discussed all the options possible and then checked him over and advised me of best cut.

"I explained Charlie is quite old - 13 - and doesn't like to be pulled around so Kev said he would take it slowly and text me when he finished after approximately three hours. It actually only took two hours and 20 minutes.

"When I collected Charlie he looked fantastic - silky soft fur, ears, eyes and paws done. I can honestly say its the best he has ever looked and he was not stressed at all. Definitely recommend Griff's to all my friends."

2. Tinkertails Dog Grooming, Edward Street, Bignall End

Rated five out of five stars. The groomer offers clipping, scissor-styling, nail cutting, ear plucking, and a bath and blow dry. An in between brush out groom is also available if the pet is groomed regularly.

What customers say: "I was very impressed with the excellent service Nicky provided on our recent first visit. She has a lovely manner and went out of her way to put us at ease and advised on the best options available for Daisy's first full groom.

"She kept me informed at all stages and Daisy's best interests, comfort and positive experience were paramount. Daisy's session took longer than first anticipated but Nicky went over and above to complete it to the highest possible standard.

What customers say: "I took my four month old puppy for her first bath. Pauline came straight out to greet us and showed me the area for grooming.

"Although our puppy Sadie was frightened I felt at ease handing her over. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results as Pauline gained Sadie trust and was even able to give her a light trim which was brilliant for her first visit.

What customers say: "This is the first time I have taken Poppy to Tyler's Dog Groomers. It has a good set up, is lovely and quiet with a calming atmosphere.

"Lydia did a brilliant haircut for Poppy, as Poppy is a Poodle I like her cut a particular way and Lydia gets five stars for that alone. Poppy came out the calmest ever from a dog groomers - we have got the next appointment booked already."

"I hate cats being shaved and I told that to the lady who took care of our cat during our conversation. She was really listening and sorted everything out the best way she possibly could.

"She shaved his sensitive and not really visible parts so we no longer have a problem and still have a nice cat."
