A patch from the Olmsted Township Police Department.

Assist fire department: Rainbow Drive

Police went to a Rainbow Drive location at 2 p.m. Aug. 13 to help a man who had cut his leg with a chainsaw. He had tied a belt around his leg as a makeshift tourniquet.

Officers arrived prior to EMS and applied a CAT tourniquet to the man’s leg, removing his makeshift one. EMS arrived and transported him to a hospital.

A caller contacted police at 7:01 p.m. Aug. 14 regarding a possible drunken driver. Police stopped the vehicle on Stearns Road.

During the stop, police observed several hypodermic needles and three catalytic converters inside the car. The car also had a flat tire. It was towed from the scene.

The motorist was cited for following too closely, not maintaining proper lanes of travel, open container of alcohol, failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of drug abuse instruments.

Police at 3:11 a.m. Aug. 15 tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The motorist refused to pull over, driving eastbound onto Interstate 480.

Officers terminated the pursuit once it advanced to the highway due to the high rate of speed.

Officers later determined that the car involved had just been stolen from the east side. It had not yet been entered into the system because the owners didn’t know it was stolen.
